About Howard Maffucci

Public service is a way of life for me. After moving to the area to attend SUNY Brockport, I began a 14-year teaching career in the Pittsford Central School District teaching middle school social studies and coaching football and ice hockey. I then transitioned to school administration, serving as an assistant principal at Gates-Chili High School and then as a principal at East Rochester High School before becoming school superintendent in East Rochester, a role I served in for 14 years.

I have lived in Pittsford with my wife Tina, a retired Pittsford elementary school teacher, for over 35 years. We’re proud members of this community who had the privilege of watching our two children grow and succeed in our strong public school system. These days, our greatest joy is watching our three grandchildren learn and explore.

Since joining the Monroe County Legislature in 2018, I have continued my service to the community I love by focusing my efforts on educating residents about county services, budgets, and finances to ensure they are engaged and know the important questions to ask. My advocacy continues to impact how the county presents information related to the tax levy, tax rate, and state mandates and brings transparency to the county’s finances. I am currently the Ranking Minority Member on the Ways and Means Committee and serve on the Environment and Public Works and Audit committees, as well as the Veterans Services Agency Advisory Board, the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester Airport Authority Board, the Monroe County Council for Elders, and the Monroe County Broadband Task Force.

If re-elected to serve in the legislature, I will continue to stress a transparent and responsive government and maintain my open-door policy to serve as an advocate who understands the community’s needs and can deliver practical results.
